She lowered her arms and turned to Ryder. âI found out who put in the work order.â
Ryder scooted his chair next to her. âWho?â
She grabbed the table and pulled her chair forward. Kinsey then pointed to the screen. âThe name is Clarice Steinhold. Sheâs a new employee hired at the start of October.â
âSo?â Con said.
Kinsey spared him a brief look. âThe work order is dated December fourth. After a little checking I ascertained that Clarice called in sick on the fourth.â
Ryder smiled and nodded. âNice catch.â
âSomeone used her computer so it wouldna trace back to themselves,â Dmitri said. âCan you find out who?â
Kinsey bit her lip. âNo.â
âIâll see what I can find,â Ryder said.
âYou learned something new?â Kinsey asked excitedly.
Ryder had kept a lot of his skills from her before. He paused, unsure of what to say.
Kinsey then rolled her eyes. âAh. I see. Youâve always been able to do that. You just failed to mention that part three years ago.â
âThree years,â Con murmured with a raised brow.
Ryder inwardly winced. Con was going to piece it all together. So much for Ryder keeping what had occurred a secret. Then again, nothing stayed private at Dreagan.
He ignored Conâs penetrating gaze as well as Kinseyâs censoring stare and focused on his task. It took him but a few minutes to hack into Kyvorâs private server. He then went back to the date in question.
From there he was able to discover Clariceâs employee number that led him straight to her computer. Then he looked back through the camera to a week earlier, hoping that Kyvor was like most companies and recorded their employees.
âShite,â Ryder said as he glared at the screen.
Con walked around the side of the monitors to stand beside Ryder. âWhat is it?â
âSomeone was smart enough to cover the camera on Clariceâs computer screen while they were there. Once they finishedâ¦â Ryder punched a button to show them. âThe surrounding area was visible once more.â
Dmitri grunted. âThen someone knew you would be able to hack into the system.â
âOr they just didnât want to take a chance of being discovered,â Kinsey said.
Ryder stared at his monitor. âIt has to be someone who works there. Iâd wager itâs someone higher up in the corporation.â
âNoâ necessarily,â Con said. âUlrik could easily get to someone much lower on the corporate ladder.â
Kinsey wrinkled her nose. âThatâs true. It could be anyone. There are tens of thousands of people working for the company. We canât go through each one.â
âWe can, but it willna do any good,â Ryder said.
Kinseyâs head tilted to the side. âWhy do you say that?â
âThey went to great lengths to conceal their identity. There willna be anything to find.â
âSo how do I find out who set me up? And why?â Kinsey asked. âI donât like this, Ryder. Someone intentionally sent me here because they knew about us.â
Con turned the gold dragon-head cuff link at his left wrist. âHow much do they know? Thatâs what we need to determine,â he said, looking at Ryder.
âObviously they know enough,â Ryder muttered.
Con shook his head. âNoâ especially. The wanted us to think Kinsey wrote the work order, but they also had to know her skillsâand yours, for that matter. Itâs why they hid themselves at Clariceâs computer.â
âThen knew weâd clear Kinsey,â Dmitri said, his gaze riveted on her.
Ryder frowned. He didnât like the direction the conversation was turning. âNay,â he stated.
âThat would be a hell no from me,â Kinsey said. âI didnât willingly come here. Had I known this was where Ryder was, Iâd
