concern.
“I-am-alive.” She felt much more comfortable with the
strange language as it fell from her mouth. That wasn’t the only difference she
noticed. Her heartbeat felt…different, and her eyesight seemed sharper. “What
did you do to me?”
“We…I… You’re more than a slave to me now. I’ve tasted you,
and there’ll be a link between us forever, until death. In your world a term
would be wife, or more accurately concubine.” He paused.
She wondered if the horrified feeling in the pit of her
stomach reflected on her face. Suddenly she felt an echo of pain over her
reaction; she’d hurt his feelings.
He continued. “I can never formally recognize our bond.
You’ll always be a slave, even if I want to free you with all my heart. I feel
you as you feel me. What makes you human is in me, and what makes me
Alburionian is in you. This will be a rather difficult adjustment for you. My
people have very different physiology, it will make everything you
experience…bolder. Your feelings will change. You’ll have more of our morality
and a dulling to the depth of your emotions. I, on the other hand, I’ll have a
dulling of my senses and a strengthening of my emotions.”
Feeling the truth of the words only made them more
terrifying. “I’m afraid.”
He looked sad. “I know.” They sat quietly for a long moment
before he broke the depressing silence. “I may lose you. What you are…it’s
unique to humans and rare. The bond we share is only possible because you’re a
resonate. You can take pleasure and emotions and echo it back, magnify it, and
create intense experiences. I thought this kind of sexual gift was a myth,
until now. The blood bond I created with you was the only way for me to be
sure. It’s true you are a thing of myth and wonder. I’m so very lucky to call
you mine. My people ingest the blood of those we love so we can always find
them. It works due to an enzyme in our bodies that creates a link, but when we
drink from a resonate it merges us with the human so deeply it’s actually
illegal.”
Madison felt horribly confused by all his woo-woo mystical
blood talk.
“If the king discovers what you are, he’ll have me killed so
he can drink from you and keep you for himself. If someone else discovers you,
they’d kill me and sell your sexual services illegally, underground. You could
make someone on my world very rich, very quickly.”
His words were terrifying, mostly because she experienced
the absolute certainty as he spoke them. He meant them, each of them. She also
saw something else behind his words.
“I don’t want to bond with your friends.”
His eyes widened a bit as if he didn’t realize just how
completely merged they were becoming. “I know, but we must. To keep you a secret
I need allies, Rex and Rae already know. I trust them with my life. You…we’ve
time to get used to this. The desires we feel will be open and experienced by
the four of us. When one feels pleasure, we will all feel it, when one hurts
we’ll all hurt. This is not ideal, but it’s the only way.”
Looking at him, feeling everything caused a burst of
something profound inside of her. She felt such caring and compassion for this
man, even if she should hate him. It terrified her. Lust mixed in with all the
other emotions, and she was filled with a deep desire to watch his face as he
came. His eyes changed, the echo of the thought reached him because Madison
found herself pinned to the cot. His breathing was heavy, and she felt his
erection pressing against her hip.
“Sorry,” he said in a hoarse voice. He backed away, and she
felt him smothering the animal instinct he’d experienced to take her hard and
fast. She felt the echoes of his needs and some of them honestly frightened
her.
She reached for him and pulled him back. “Don’t go, please.”
She wanted it as badly as he did.
“You’re weak.” He looked so unsure, and it touched her
heart.
“Give me your strength.” Those
