last winter before he
died and gave all three of us our matching necklaces as an early Christmas
present and he told us that he loved being surrounded by his three beautiful
girls and he wouldn’t change it for the world. I just kept thinking and
wondering how she could do this to him to us…how? I was brought back to reality
with the knock on my window and the rattle of my door handle Luke was there
trying to get my attention and Evan and Sophia looked concerned from behind
him. I reached up and unlocked the door looking down as the door came open and
Luke pulled me out looking me over for any sign that someone hurt me. After
finding nothing he pulled me to him and wrapped his arms around my body. Over
his shoulder I whispered to Sophia “She has been cheating on my daddy for the
last year.” She was the only one that I had confided in truly, fully and she
knew exactly what this was doing to me and why.

Panic had set in the minute I
heard the concern in Sophia’s voice when Zoey called
her. We had been at my house playing pool my dad had a business trip which
meant he would be gone the entire weekend and mom went along. She told me I
could have a few friends over so that is what I had planned not a party just a
small group. I wanted to be able to spend some time with Zoey and let her get to know me a little better with the hopes that she would soon
give me a chance to take her out. When I saw the scared look on Sophia’s face I
knew something had happened. “ Soph what’s wrong is Zoey okay?” She pulled her mouth away from the phone and
mouthed. “Crying so hard I can’t understand her.”  I didn’t give her a
chance to continue to try I grabbed the phone and started questioning her.
Sophia was right she was crying so hard. Hearing her formed a lump in my throat
and I had to fight passed it. She finally gave me a place to find her and I
dropped the phone I thought I knew which Quick Mart she is talking about I
didn’t know exactly where she lived but by talking to Sophia I had an idea. As
I ran out the door Sophia and Evan were right behind me jumping into my car
too. Soph kept her on the phone talking but from the
sounds of it Zoey wasn’t really doing much on the
other end of the line. After passing the Quick Mart once and spinning quickly
to go back we pulled in next to her car. She looked lost crying staring off to
who knows where. I jumped out and ran to her car. I tried to open the door but
it was locked. Knocking on the window she still just cried and appeared dazed.
After knocking continuously she finally looked over at me and my chest
tightened and that familiar lump formed once again in my throat. She opened the
door I couldn’t help it I grabbed her and drug her out of her car looking her
over for any signs that someone hurt her. I found nothing I felt relieved but
yet confused. I pulled her to me tightly but still had no idea what was going
on. I heard her whisper something but I wasn’t ready to let her go yet. I knew
that I wasn’t sure if this girl was ever going to give me a chance to prove I
could be one of the good guys but I sure as hell had no intentions of proving
to be anything else but that for her. I wanted to try so badly. I was willing
to do my damnedest to try. I wanted to give all of me to Zoey and I knew at that moment that is wasn’t just about sex not even close. I
turned to Evan and told him to follow me with Zoey’s car and I took her by the hand to my car putting her carefully in and closing
the door we drove back to my house. She stared out the window the entire way
there and I just let her have her time. I just felt like I should do something
but I had no idea what.
Sophia took her upstairs to the
bathroom and they had been up there for what felt like forever. “Hey Evan
should we check on them? Do you think everything is okay?” I couldn’t shake the
urge to try and fix everything for her. Before Evan could answer me Sophia came
out of
