inside the shower. The searing water felt like a much needed massage therapy as she stood under the beating drizzle, not wanting to move. She let the water beat her in the face. Her hair was getting a little damp, but she didn’t care, because she was about to get it done by a professional. She grabbed the bath rag and began washing with the Honey Suckle body wash by Bath and Body works. Nina had given it to her days before, and told her that this would surely make her feel good when she washed with it. The smell of the body wash was even more relaxing, and she enjoyed the mental feeling it gave her as the suds ran down her body along with the water.
She proceeded to brush her teeth, opening her mouth and brushing as far back on her tongue as she could until she gagged. She let the drizzle from the showerhead rinse thoroughly as she spit the water back out. Scarlett loved the clean feeling she got when she washed her body and brushed her teeth. Cleansed inside and out by the time she stepped out of the shower, she wrapped the towel around her waist and walked out of the bathroom.
The house was still quiet, so she walked over to Anton’s room and knocked lightly. She didn’t hear anything or anyone, so she gently pushed the door open. Anton and Samantha were sound asleep. Anton had his arm wrapped around Samantha’s waist. They were fully clothed, lying on top of the cover. Scarlett smiled and closed the door behind her, trying not to wake them.
She tiptoed over to Gwen’s room and silently cracked open the door. To her surprise, Gwen was in the bed asleep with the covers wrapped around her neck. She was snoring so loudly that it seemed she hadn’t slept this good in days.
Satisfied that all was well in her home, Scarlett went to her room to get dressed. She looked at all her junky clothes, clean and dirty, lying around on her floor. I think I have time to clean this mess up before I go get my hair done. When I come home later, I want to walk into a big nice clean room. She smiled and began separating the clean clothes from the dirty ones. She was determined to start cleaning up her room and putting her things up in the drawers where they belonged, once they were washed. Things had to change in her life and she was starting with her resting space first.
By the time Scarlett was done cleaning and finding something to wear, it was 8:40 a.m. and past time for her to go. She dashed out of the house and got in Sheila’s car. She started up the engine and headed over to Joan’s.
    __________
Scarlett parked Sheila’s car directly in front of Joan’s Beauty Shop. She got out of the car, dressed in a pair of fitted bleached jeans and a red fitted shirt. She had on a pair of red pumps that gave her a casual appeal. As she walked inside the double doors, the door chime jingled; alerting Joan that she had a visitor.
    “Scarlett is that you?”
“Hey Joan, it’s me. It’s good to see you.” Scarlett admired the way Joan dressed. Even though she did hair, she was always dressed professionally in the latest designer clothing. Today, she had on a pair of J Brand stretch denim Capri leggings and a red Ellen Fisher silk and cotton blend top. She also had on a comfortable looking pair of red Fit Flop “Walkstar III” Sandals. To Scarlett, it was just a pair of Capri leggings, nice flowing tank top, and a pair of flip-flops.
“And it’s good to see you,” Joan smiled and peeked at Scarlett’s hair. Yep, it’s still the same, she thought. “So, you say you’ve never had any chemicals in your hair right?”
“No, I’ve never wanted anything in my hair. I’ve always felt tender headed for some reason and didn’t care for anyone to touch my hair.”
    “I see,” Joan said.
    “Personal reasons, Joan.” Scarlett added.
“Come on baby, sit down.” Scarlett sat in Joan’s stylist chair. She’d never sat in a stylist chair before now. It was something about Scarlett that made Joan feel bad for her. She could
