Samantha tries to sing with the antler hat on with a drink in
hand.
“Mr. Latters I
don’t know what you have done to me. It feels amazing just being around you.”
Watching as Jacob sits on the arm of the couch, Samantha says, “Well enough of
my confusing antics for one night. I have an early flight, so I'm going to turn
in,” she says. “Is this what you do with women; sing karaoke and get them to
fall for you?” she asks.
“No you're the
first. Usually women just come here to have sex. They don't want to know me.”
“That’s their
loss,” she says, placing her hand on his face kissing his lips. “I'm so happy I
got this chance to know a small part of you. I'm sure there's a lot more to
you,” she says.
He holds her
hands in his.
“Jacob you don't
know how bad I want you to make love to me.”
She leans her
head against his while they hold hands.
“Goodnight,” she
says.
She is in the
guest room trying to sleep in another one of his shirts that smells of him.
Wanting to be close to him, she goes to his room. He is in bed watching TV,
shirtless. She knocks on his open door.
“Sorry to bother
you,” she says.
She stands there
rubbing the tips of her fingers together looking down at her hands. Her hair is
partially covering her face as she sheepishly peeks at Jacob. Wearing his blue
plaid shirt, Jacob admired her beautiful long legs.
"Are you
ok?" he asks with alarm.
"Can I watch
TV with you until I fall asleep?" asks Samantha.
"Come
here," says Jacob.
She slowly gets
under the cover with him. He pulls her close to him; kissing her on the nose as
she lay in his arms. She doesn’t know what she is doing. She knows at that
moment as she falls asleep that everything just feels right. She knows later
that she is going to be devastated when she breaks both of their hearts.
Nothing happened between them that night.
In the morning he
walks her to the truck.
"I had an
amazing time this weekend. Call me when you land so that I know you made it
back safely,” says Jacob.
Not ready to see
her go, he hugs her then kisses her again and again before finally saying, “I
better let you go.”
Gazing into his
big green eyes she reluctantly says, “Ok,” and climbs into the truck with his
help.
On her flight
back all she can do is think about Jacob and the amazing weekend they shared.
She also knows
she has to stay focused on her task and not get caught up with him. In her
heart, she already knows it is too late.
Samantha goes in
to work the next morning very chipper.
“Good morning
everyone! Isn’t it just a beautiful day?” she asks.
When she gets to
her office, Nicki is so anxious she almost hung up on a client. Samantha put
her bags down.
"Girl let me
close the door so you can tell me all the dirty details. Should I take notes?”
she jokes.
"Very
funny,” says Samantha. “The weekend was amazing except for when his best
friend’s girlfriend tried to check me. His other friend Jenny found out my real
name.”
"What!?"
asks Nicki.
“She says she won’t
tell him, but who really knows. Nicki I had such an amazing time. Of course he
did still try to get the goodies. I was tempted but we held out. We came
darn close! We stayed in all weekend so that we could get to know each other. His
green eyes makes you want to melt in them! He looks so good in his suit. Let me
show you some pictures.”
Nicki says, “You
guys look so good together.”
“Do you think his
friends tried to be polite and were surprised when they saw you were black?”
Nicki asks.
“Yes of course
they tried to fake it, but I could see right through it. He’s only dated one
other black girl while he was in high school.”
“You know I had
to check out the package. He is swanging low girl!” says Samantha. “I am
impressed. I just hope he knows what to do with it,” they both laugh. “Let’s
get to work,” says Samantha.
“Do you think he
might ask you to his Gala?” Nicki asks.
“I don't
