Wilson. My carefully constructed life had fallen apart all around me. I thought it was a fortress built on the bedrock of a stable relationship. It turned out to be a house of cards with Frank yanking out the bottom. Which left me standing in the middle with a bunch of meaningless pieces fluttering around like I was caught in a tornado. Nothing made sense anymore.
    How’s that for lost?
All I knew for certain right now was that the hottest guy I’d ever laid eyes on was eyeing me up and down like he wanted to get in my skirt.
And boy did I want him up there…
“Told you!” Rev suddenly shouted, pointing to the ring.
I hadn’t been paying attention, but apparently the fight was over.
“Every single damn time.” Rev leapt up with palpable excitement and fist bumped Ink. He turned to me with that perfect, cocky smile. “Looks like you’re coming out for a drink.”
And I didn’t argue or hesitate.
For once in my life, I was ready to throw caution to the wind. I was ready to give in to what my body wanted and my scrupulous sense of judgment riled against.
    Well, screw you inner voice.
What the hell had that whole list of reservations ever done for me? I’d ended up so damn lost that I had to wonder if my moral compass had ever been working in the first place.
Plus, I had something stronger now. Something that was drawing me out like a rip current. Call it intuition. Or seduction. Or just plain foolishness.
I just wasn’t going to be the good girl.
Maybe that’s why the rest of the night moved so quickly. It was an inevitable progression and I knew exactly where we’d end up.
First it was some dilapidated bar like the place I’d met him. Way, way, way off the strip and out on the periphery of Vegas. But this time no one bothered me. I didn’t even notice anyone else. It was tunnel vision—Rev Gryffin and nothing else.
We were out with Mayhem and Ink. They all ordered drinks. I tried to order wine.
Rev laughed. “They’ve got anything you want Winter, so long as it’s beer or crappy whisky.”
And then his eyes lit up, reflecting the dim light of the bar, and I noticed just how blue they were. Blue like the sky on a cloudless day or the expanse of pristine ocean around an uninhabited island. They were vivid and deep, like nothing I’d seen before.
I could get lost in those.
And I did. I downed my shitty lukewarm beer in a quick succession of gulps and suddenly things were starting to feel a lot better.
Rev got closer. I got closer. We were closer.
His hand reached across my lower back and pulled me in. I raised my arm up over his broad shoulder and leaned in.
His voice was husky, rough—less playful than before. “All this time I was wondering when I’d be tasting those plump little lips of yours.”
So, while Mayhem and Ink wandered off to shoot pool, we started making out.
    More than that.
His tongue ran across my lips until they parted for him. Then, in one swift motion, he grabbed the back of my head and pulled me in deep. His hand was wrapped in my hair and his tongue had darted inside my willing mouth.
He devoured me. He possessed me. And I melted against his hard, heaving body.
As his hand slid up my thighs, I heard that final voice of objection.
This isn’t you Winter. This isn’t the girl that your mother raised…
I ignored that voice. And I was glad I did. Because as soon as his strong fingers found their way up the side of my skirt and cupped my ass, I felt the hardness of his arousal against the softness of my upper thigh. He’d lifted me onto the bar stool and his hand was working its way to the front of my panties. I was getting wet before he even touched me. His fingers slipped the thin material over my swollen and eager lips, and I was soaking at his touch. He began to run the pad of his index finger over that sensitive area neglected far too long. My head buzzed, my chest thumped, and pangs of delectable pleasure almost made me forget where I was.
    But then it
