She cussed a blue streak as I
pulled on underwear, he did sound serious though, and my heart started racing
in fear, until suddenly I grew extremely calm, like beyond calm, and the
weirdest thing is, this calmness came from inside and seemed to envelop me, it
was almost like being wrapped in a warm, soft blanket. Freaky.
"Okay
I'm ready."
Or
as ready as I'll ever be, I'm wearing one of his tee shirts and my panties with
ankle socks, my hair is a wild mess, and now I'm biting my nails down to the
quick.
"I'm going to tell you about
me, I want you to hear me out before you interrupt.
Before
I begin I should tell you,.......I love you, I've always loved you, I've loved
you for the entirety of your existence. No matter what you hear here today
remember that.
You
might become afraid by some of the things I say to you, don't be."
"You're
scaring me."
He
came over and held me, again that feeling of calm came over me, only this time
it was tenfold. He held me on his lap as he started to talk.
"I
was born in a place far away from here. Where I come from, there had been a
drought in the land for twenty years, the crops were dead, the people were
dying out, our only recourse was warring with the
neighboring.......people's."
I
caught the hesitation in his speech but chose to hold my tongue as he'd
asked.
"On
the day that I was born, in the very same hour of my birth, at my first cry,
the heavens opened and there was rain."
I
caught my breath, it sounded like a fairytale, why ever would he think I would
be frightened by this?
"For
some reason, for everyday that I lived, the crops flourished, barren lands
became flourishing fields. In other words, life returned to our people.
There was a legend in our land
about one who was to come and end the hardships of our people. He was known as
the golden one. From the circumstances surrounding my birth, everyone believed
that I was him.
From
then on I was held in a certain........ regard by my people. Now here's where
the story gets tricky."
There
was a long pause as he seemed to be choosing his words carefully.
"My
land is not of this earth."
It
took a minute for what he said to sink in and when it did I tried to jump off
his lap.
"No
Tamara, do not run from me, I am not one of your little green men bandied about
in old wives' tales, I am a human, my plane is somewhere between here and the
heavens, we're not numbered among the planets known to man, why that is I do
not know. What I do know from our history is that during the fall of man my
people were spared, we are the same as you, but we kept most of our powers,
powers that your people once held, we lost some of our powers as well but not
as much as our brethren here on earth.
Trust
me love, I am as human as you are, just a little more....... enhanced."
My body remained tense as I tried
to make sense of his words, I knew crap about science, what plane was there not
discovered by man, I didn't understand any of it.
"How
old are you?"
It
took him a while to answer and I grew even more tense, oh God, Oh God, oh God.
I chanted in my head.
"As
old as time in my realm, thirty four in yours."
"I
don't understand, how can that be?"
"We
age differently, when you were born here, I was a boy of eleven, in my realm I
was already millennia."
"Can
you.....do you.....can you die?"
"Only
if God wishes it."
"So
you believe in God?"
I
guess he heard the disbelief in my voice because he laughed.
"Of
course He made me, my people are very aware of His existence, that's one of the
reasons we share everything with our earthly brothers and sisters, but still kept
a lot of our original powers."
"So
when I die, you will marry someone else.......?"
"Um,
about that......"
Chapter Twelve
She was stiff as a board and very
afraid, I felt the uncertainty and confusion coming off of her in waves.
My
son was on guard, his sister was alert, as we three sensed
