surprised to see many of the people in the blue velvet lounge were pretty normal looking. There were singles, couples, and groups, many dressed in regular attire and just a few dressed in hardly anything but scraps of leather. She wanted to feel a little relief, but she suspected that what these people lacked in revealing clothing they made up for with an even more intimidating kink than those downstairs.
Scarlett focused on the breathing techniques Leo had taught her to do during her flashbacks as she followed Rhett up to an intricately designed wooden door. It was in the middle of a thick stone wall, inviting each passerby to turn its knob to sneak a peek. She noticed identical-sized doors on either side of it, all made from different types and shades of wood. Before opening it, he turned to her, gave her a friendly smile, then grabbed her trembling hand before placing a kiss on top of it.
“Don’t be nervous, candy pants. They’re going to love you.”
The mention of the word “they” only made her heart beat that much faster, if that were even possible. She didn’t dare ask what he meant, for she knew his admission might cause the little courage she had to dissipate. As much as she felt the comfort of running away calling to her, she had a deep desire to explore her mate’s tastes. She loved this man more than anything in the world, and taking interests in his appetites was the least she could do after all he’d done for her. As if sensing her unease, he held her body closer to his as he reached for the knob.
Rhett opened the door, and before she could even think to turn to leave, he pulled her in to the room and closed the door shut behind her. She heard the automatic lock click in place, and she froze in her spot.
She gasped loudly, a hand flying over her mouth. Her eyes darted to the walls in front and to the right and left of her then back again—the clear, glass walls! She guessed about twenty people, men and women, old and young, attractive and not, stood close to the glass, each watching them with keen interest in their eyes. A few of the people were stark naked, but most of them still had clothes on. In the middle of the room sat a giant, wooden four-poster bed with rose petals sprinkled on top. Next to it was a mirrored nightstand with two drawers and a small, blank monitor on top.
“Do you like my little surprise, mate?” Rhett whispered in her ear as he came up behind her.
She was grateful for the delicious, though very brief, distraction his body heat provided her. Her nipples tightened against the cotton fabric of her blouse as his soft breath feathered over the sensitive skin on the side of her neck.
Immediately snapping out of the fog of lust he constantly enveloped her with, she turned to him, burying hot face in his muscular, warm chest for some kind of familiar comfort.
“I don’t know if I’m ready for this.” She looked up at him, and he was still smiling confidently at her. She only wished she felt the same assurance in herself that he obviously felt for her. He softly brushed aside her bangs as he allowed her to continue her nervous jabber. “I had fun at the gas station, but this is a lot of people. I think I might be a little too shy for all this.”
“First of all, darlin’, you’re far from shy,” he stated as he rested his large hands on her trembling shoulders. “And second, just imagine the fun you had at the gas station times twenty. Didn’t it make you feel sexy to be watched like that? Knowing that at that moment, he wanted you more than anything in the entire world but couldn’t have you.” He turned her around to face the eager crowd again. “Look at them, Scarlett. They’re looking at you like you’re the most beautiful woman in the world because you are . Don’t be afraid, my sweet mate. You have forty eager eyes watching your every move now.” He reached around and began to slowly unbutton her blouse. “I want them to see how lucky the Lenox
