sighs listening to his answer.
“Okay. Well, hopefully, it was just a kid playing a prank or something, but if anything else happens, I’m going to want better answers, Papi. You got me?” she demands. I like her, she’s feisty and bossy. She’s actually giving me a semi-boner, and she’s really fucking hot too.
She pinches the bridge of her nose, exhales and closes her eyes leaning back into her desk chair. “How’s Star doing?” she asks, and I’ve seen enough.
“Okay, turn it off. At least, we know the damage has been done. The boss is pissed, Papi’s in trouble, and he knows it would’ve been us, and we’re not letting up. He will cave. I’m sure I’ll be receiving a phone call soon enough.”
“He needs to stop fighting it, and just come to the dark side, bad shit would stop happening if he did that,” Blade tells me and I nod matter-of-factly.
“Yeah, but Papi is not the sharpest tool in the shed. Might take a couple more times before he realizes that he needs to step it up. Or not. Maybe this will be enough, just have to wait and see.”
Suddenly, my phone starts to vibrate in my jean’s pocket. Smirking to myself, I pull it out and look at the caller ID. “Speak of the devil.” Swiping the screen, I crack my neck from side to side waiting for a tirade of abuse. “Papi, how goes it?”
    “You win.”
My head jolts back slightly at the sound of the utter defeat in his voice. “I win?”
“Yes, you win. My girl is sick, my work is being vandalized, and I have no idea what’s next. So, I’m in. Just keep your brutality at bay and I’ll start selling. Don’t know how, and I’m going to probably lose my girlfriend because of it, but I’ll do it to keep her safe.”
Half smiling, I nod, even though he can’t see me. “You’re smarter than I gave you credit for, Papi. Moving the eccys won’t be hard. Once you start, you’ll find it will flow easily. Just watch who you sell to, and make sure it’s no one undercover.”
He exhales and does that quiet reflection thing he’s renowned for. “Papi?”
“I’m here. This is not what I had planned for my life, you know?”
Chuckling, I shake my head. “No, I gather not, but paths cross, people change, things happen for a reason, Papi. It’ll work out.”
He clears his throat as I hear someone call out his name softly in the background. “Look, I gotta go. I’ll inform you when I start making a move. Don’t call me, I’m going to be with my girl, and I want to try and keep this from her. So please, let me call you, okay? Can you, at least, do that?”
Smiling at his nerve, I nod my head. “Sure, but don’t leave it too long, or I will do more than just call you. You hearing me?”
    “Yes, loud and clear.”
“Carlos?” The delicate cracking voice calls out again.
    “I gotta go.”
The phone goes dead, and I take a deep breath remembering that his real name is Carlos. Carlos Rivera, the man whore from Adelaide. Bet he never thought he’d end up a mutt, working for me. Mad Dog fucking McNamara–President of the Virginia Satan’s Savages–the toughest MC Club in all of South Australia. Shaking my head, I smirk and make my way to the bar.
“Acid, call Boiler will you? Get me a bloody burger, extra bloody, and make it quick. I’m fucking hungry,” I demand. Acid nods curtly, picking up the red phone behind the bar to dial the kitchen out the back.

Chapter Three

It’s been a few days and thank fuck Papi has checked in and has started to distribute. I’m sitting in the assembly room a couple of hours after dinner with Chops, talking about the progress.
“I was starting to worry that I was going to have to send another message to Papi, but he’s stepped up and seems to be going okay now. So fingers crossed, we can find some more lackeys. I’ve set Penetrator on it. Hopefully, he’ll come up with something soon.”
“Yeah, Papi is… interesting. He’s a slow mover, and we need someone to bring in
