believing she really didn’t hear it, she heard it again, but this time only faintly. She was sure this time. Where are all the fucking monitors? Blake said people would come. She had seen several staff head in the same direction as Blake did earlier. God, please don’t let me be wrong. Myka got up and looked through the red doors. She could see the woman wasn’t doing well. She immediately yanked the doors wide open and started screaming as loudly as she could, “Red! She said ‘Red’—somebody help her!”
Before the words were barely out of her mouth, she saw men running from every direction, but not before the man in the dungeon threw the whip down and went up to Myka. “You fucking little bitch! Who the hell do you think you are interfering in my scene?” He raised his hand to slap her, but not before she saw an arm come forward to stop him. Blake.
“If you ever touch her, it’ll be the last time you touch anybody.” Blake’s grip was so strong that he forced the man down to his knees in front of Myka. “Apologize.”
“I–I’m sorry, but she interrupted my scene! You need to handle her a little better!”
“And you need to stop talking.” Blake motioned for two very large men to come over. “Get him out of here. Wait for me at the front.”
Two other staff were helping the woman, who looked really tired and maybe in shock. “Callie, honey, did you use your safe word?” Blake asked gently.
    “Y–Yes,” she whispered.
Blake told the two staff to take Callie and Myka into his office and to get Callie a blanket and water. Myka watched Blake going to the front as she was being escorted to his office. Before they entered the office, she saw Blake talking to the staff and then heard him tell the man he was banned from the club and would be blackballed at any others. Myka shuddered when she thought of how cruel that man was.
In the office, she sat down in one of the chairs, not saying a word. She could feel the tears welling up in her eyes and knew they’d be coming soon. She looked at the woman Blake had called “Callie” as she shook under her blanket. As soon as Blake walked in, he went over to Callie to see how she was doing. He then picked her up and sat her in his lap. Myka looked down, knowing the woman needed comfort, but angry that it was Blake doing the comforting. When one of his staff came back with some water, Blake told him to go find Master Kip.
Myka could feel the jealousy searing through her body as Blake put his arms around Callie and began rocking her back and forth. He told Callie he was going to call Doc Bailey, but Callie insisted she’d be fine in just a little while. Blake gently informed her that she was going to see Doc anyway, just to make sure that she wasn’t hurt anywhere, and Callie nodded in agreement. He apologized to her for no one showing up when she used her safe word and assured her the staff responsible was going to be terminated immediately.
The door to Blake’s office opened, and Master Kip came in. Blake explained what happened and asked him to give Callie some one-on-one time and to make sure she saw Doc when he arrived. “C’mon, honey,” Master Kip said gently as he picked Callie up. “Let’s go find a nice quiet spot, okay?” Callie wrapped her arms around his neck and laid her head on his shoulder. Before they went out, though, Callie looked over at Myka, smiled, and said “thank you.” Myka nodded her head and smiled in return.
Once they left the room, Blake went over to Myka and put her in his lap. She laid her head on his chest and began to cry. “I’m so sorry, sweetheart. I should’ve never have left you alone like that.” She didn’t say a word, just allowed her tears to flow freely. She wasn’t only crying for Callie, but for herself as well. She would never be able to live in Blake’s world—not like he wanted her to anyway. She was going to have to tell him good-bye, and it was breaking her heart.
    When she finally
