    Angie glanced around the hotel restaurant, but Chad was nowhere to be found. She’d knocked on his door, called his room, and paced the hallway. After the shoot, he’d dashed out so quickly, she’d never even really had the chance to say thank you.
    She set her water aside and opened up her laptop.     Where the hell was he? She glanced at her watch, and then decided on a salad. When she set the menu across from her, she saw Kirk and waved him over. She’d be lost without Kirk. He’d proven to be her best friend and the best assistant she’d ever had.
    “Hey, sweetness,” he said, settling himself into the chair. “Why the long face?”
    “I can’t find Chad,” she admitted, not caring that she sounded pathetic and desperate. If anyone would understand, it would be Kirk.
    “I think he’s at some dinner or something with the rest of the suits. Did you know he’s an accountant?”
    “I didn’t even know his name until you told me this morning.”
