the fence and stalked towards us with a bright smile, only it looked fake, as if something were troubling him. I'd been given many to know one when I saw one. I felt Dodge's chest heave a long and loud sigh.
"Dive, fuck off," was growled low as he walked us towards the front door. "Fuck," he hissed. "Someone reach in my pocket and grab my keys."
"Dude, I ain't in the mood to feel you up," the man named Dive joked, his demeanour now true. "Unless you buy me dinner first."
    "Don't—"
"Shut it, you two," Pick snapped. Honestly, I was finding the interaction amusing and comforting. If only Lucia could see me. "Stop moving," Pick ordered as he reached out to place his hand in Dodge's front pocket.
"You move your hand closer to the front and we're gonna have problems." Dodge glared at Caden next to him.
"Don't let Billy see you get hard for his guy, Dodge." Dive laughed.
They were gay? But I thought Josie said... Oh, wow, she was actually with the both of them.
A slap sounded behind us. I glanced over Dodge's big shoulder to see Dive rubbing the back of his head and Billy scowling at him. "What?" Dive asked.
"Can we please just go inside?" Josie said with humour in her voice.
Finally, I heard the jangle of keys, then Pick unlocked the door and swung it open. He moved out of the way so Dodge and I could enter first.
At least the inside was better than the outside. It was tidy, only bare, a real bachelor pad. Minimal furniture scattered around the first room we walked into, which was the living room. We had to step down into it. Dodge took me over to the large corner couch and sat me on it while he quickly shuffled back. I looked up at him, and with the light shining through the floor-to-ceiling windows behind him, he appeared like an avenging angel.
Josie came and sat next to me, with Pick positioning himself beside her while the other men stood around. That was until Dive dragged in a chair for himself to sit across from Josie and me.
"Now, you wanna tell me why you're carrying a beautiful injured woman into your house?" Dive asked. He smiled and winked at me then said, "By the way, name's Dive, as in, I would dive into your pussy any day, baby."
Did he seriously just say that to me? I would have laughed and said something crude back, if I wasn’t shocked from him just blurting it out like it was an everyday thing to say.
"Dive," Josie gasped. "Don't be crude."
"It's in my nature, babe." He winked. I rolled my eyes.
"I wouldn't go there, brother," Billy said.
"Not like he'd have a chance," Pick added.
"Women can't resist my charm," Dive stated while running his hand down over his chest. That was when I heard a growl fill the room.
Wide-eyed, I looked at Dodge, realising the sound had been made by him. "Enough of this shit," he barked. He crossed his arms over his chest. "Willow, stay the fuck away from this guy. He's nothing but trouble."
Dive gasped, his hand going over his heart. "You wound me, brother."
"Can we please just sort this stuff out so Willow can rest and clean up," Josie demanded. Pick placed his arm around her shoulders and looked at her with a sweet smile. I caught Billy doing the same.
A pang of sadness filled me.
Never had I had that look from a male.
"Willow, babe, you wanna fill us in on what's going on?" Pick asked.
Nodding, I looked to the floor and started, "My parents were drug addicts..."
"Fuck," Pick hissed. He leaned forward, resting his arms on his knees. Josie's hand went to his back, rubbing it up and down.
    "Go on," Dodge said.
"They weren't until I was around six, after they lost my younger sister. She drowned in the bath. My mother blamed herself and never got over it. My dad didn't help by blaming her, as well." Taking a breath, I continued talking with my eyes on the floor. "I guess they found that ice dulled the pain. From then on, I brought myself up. They were either too high or they just didn't care.
"I ate what I could get my hands on and cleaned the house so I
