drag it out long as I can.”
“Not sure I could have lasted more than a few minutes,” Steve admitted. “Been a while since I came that hard and my legs are pretty shaky. Besides, it’s hot to see you be turned on by me fucking your mouth. We can swap places next time.”
Troy turned and they kissed softly, almost gently. The clawing need had been fed for now and Troy enjoyed the moment for what it was, a silent thanks and promise of more to come.
“Come on, mate,” Troy chuckled when they pulled apart. “We both need to get clean now. And you have to change. We can swing by my place and I’ll get some fresh clothes on—something that doesn’t smell of hospital—and we can get moving.”
“No more distractions?” Steve teased him.
Troy placed his hand over his heart. “No more distractions.”
“Pity,” Steve squirted some shower gel into his palm. “Go on then. Give me a minute and I’ll be right there.”
Troy rinsed himself quickly in the water, eager to get out of the hot spray. Seconds later he stepped out and grabbed a towel. Steve closed the curtain behind him.
“You’re going to get me in a world of trouble, aren’t you?” Steve called out.
Troy dried himself off. “Sexually? Or with your old school mates?”
Steve laughed. “Both.”
Troy shrugged, even though Steve couldn’t see the gesture. After a moment’s thought, he replied honestly.
“Work is work,” Troy said. “I go where it leads me. I’m not looking to make trouble, but I’m not going to shy away from it either. This business can get messy and I don’t apologize for it. But if you’d rather wait behind I’m—”
“That’s not where I was leading,” Steve interrupted. “I was serious, but teasing too. I have a feeling already that you’ll have me doing things I never would have considered previously. You…”
Troy left the door open and got dressed while Steve spoke. When he trailed off, Troy remained silent, figuring Steve was searching for the right phrase or words. The water turned off. A moment later Steve stepped out, dripping, and grabbed a second towel.
“I’ve never felt so intensely for a partner so quickly. I’m usually not one to trust so easily,” Steve admitted. “But something about you…or about us, maybe. There’s something here. Something new. Maybe that’s what I was trying to find words for.”
Steve hung the towel up and came into the bedroom. Troy stepped toward him, until they were close but not quite touching.
“This isn’t casual for me,” Troy promised. “I’m not honestly sure what it is, but it’s not a fling. Not some random fancy. This is serious. I can promise you that.”
Steve smiled. The pressure Troy had unaccountably been feeling in his chest eased. He knew Steve hadn’t been testing him or meaning to cause him stress. But acknowledging so early that this wasn’t casual was new for him. All Troy knew was he felt the same level of urgency and intensity that Steve seemed to feel. And he didn’t want this to end. Not even close. He never made promises—they were too easily broken—but the words came so naturally to him now, and he meant them.
Warning bells sounded in Troy’s mind. He really didn’t know what this was between them, but it was deep. It was meaningful. And it was only the beginning.
Troy bent his head and they kissed, slowly and thoroughly. It was a promise, a silent one, but one nevertheless steeped in hidden meaning.
“Better get dressed,” Steve said huskily when they pulled apart.
Troy cast his eye down the impressive form of his lover. “It’s a shame, but yes, you’d better. Not sure they’ll let you into the hallowed halls like that.”
“Their loss,” Steve laughed and went to the wardrobe.
Chapter Three
Fresh from the shower, Steve watched Troy as he drove them through the inner city streets. The sleek car wound its way toward Marshall’s offices in Parliament, the turns silky smooth under
