and turned on the light, jumping a little as the door shut behind them with a slight bang.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to frighten you.”
“It’s all right. Sometimes I’m a little skittish,” she said, turning to face him.
“I guess we all have our moments. It’s a real pleasure to meet you, Ms. Marcos.”
He brought her hand to his lips and kissed it. The brush of his mouth across her skin made a tingle rise in a place that hadn’t tingled in a long, long time.
“The pleasure is mine, Mr. Triton.”
Clearing her throat, she smiled at him as he finally released her hand.
    “Please. Call me Chris.”
“Okay, Chris. Would you like to have a seat?” She indicated the chair in front of the desk.
    “Yes. Thank you.”
Arienne took her seat across the desk from him. It was hard to remember a time when a man had left her feeling this flustered. Right now, she had a man who was Greek statue fine sitting in front of her, and it was going to take all of her wits to even have a coherent conversation.

Now isn’t this interesting? Those Demigod Daughters sure bring out the men.
Aphrodite stood undetected, watching the mortals in the library. Sensing the presence of a god in the area, she’d decided to stop by. Imagine her surprise to see not only Athena’s daughter, but Poseidon’s son in the same place. As she’d carefully cloaked her presence and watched the scene unfold, already the Goddess of Love could see trouble brewing.
This had the potential to end badly. Gods were not known for finding true love, except for Hades, but he was a rarity among gods and men.  This situation with Arienne had the makings of a disaster of godly proportions, but that was the tricky thing about love. There were so many potential outcomes that sometimes even Aphrodite was unsure what could happen. This situation bore watching.
Poor Athena. Her half-sister had been so sure no one would find out about her half mortal daughter. Too bad, Sis. The cat’s out of the bag now. It won’t be long before everyone knows. Seeing Triton completely at ease in his human guise as the wealthy “Chris Triton” was throwing Aphrodite for a loop. She’d thought he was too busy chasing nymphs to be bothered with mortals, but apparently, she was very wrong.
There was no love lost between Athena and Triton, though things had been different many eons ago, and that was what made all this the more interesting. Aphrodite had no idea if the Prince of the Seas was even aware of Arienne’s true identity, but if he wasn’t, he would be soon. She was tempted to give her sister the heads-up about her daughter, but she wouldn’t. Aphrodite had a responsibility to see to Arienne’s love life, and since she had no idea what Triton’s intentions were she needed to remain watchful. Besides, when a god and a Demigod Daughter got together, there was no telling what could happen.

Chapter Ten

As Triton sat across from Arienne, he noticed the tremor in her hands. A fresh smile curved his lips.
“So … Chris, what can I do for you?”
“Actually, Ms. Marcos, I’d like to do something for you. Well something else that is.”
The girl raised a brow. He could see a muscle in her neck twitching.
“I’m not sure what you’re referring to, Mr. Triton.”
He leaned forward and placed his elbows on the desk. “Chris. I thought we were on a first name basis.”
“I’m not sure that would be appropriate.”
“Really? I would think after sending you red roses you could at least call me Chris.”
One of Arienne’s hands flew to her mouth, and then slowly she brought her hand away. Her eyes stretched wide.
    “It was you? Why?”
“When I saw you on the news, something about you really stuck with me. I thought that you were an incredible woman and I wanted to do something nice for you, so I thought flowers would be a small token of my esteem.”
A blush crept up her cheeks. “The roses were beautiful. Thank you. I appreciate you
