Brie Pleases her New Master (After Graduation, #1)
how she would endure the wait—by pretending that even now Sir was secretly watching her, pleased with her level of commitment.
“I love you, Sir,” she whispered.
Brie’s heart skipped a beat when she finally heard the key turn in the lock hours later. Master’s back! She was embarrassed to admit to herself that she felt just like a little puppy eager to greet its owner.
Sir entered the apartment and placed her purse on the counter before going to the kitchen with several bags in his hands. He didn’t even glance her way as he walked by.
It was reminiscent of her objectification lesson and she actually felt an odd thrill. Brie waited patiently, although her stomach started growling when she heard him cutting up food in the kitchen.
Sir came out briefly and smiled. “Well done, téa.” His words of praise thrilled her overly much, forcing her to show great restraint to avoid grinning like a fool. He commanded smoothly, “You may stand and sit on the chair, legs spread for my pleasure.”
Brie choked on the groan that erupted from her lips when she tried to get up off the floor. The chain accentuated her lack of grace, making random clinking sounds as she struggled with her stiff limbs. Thankfully, Sir had returned to the kitchen and missed her graceless transfer from floor to chaise.
He returned soon after with a plate in his hand. Sir walked over and sat on the foot of the chair. “Before we eat, I want to hear what you’ve learned.”
Her heart raced as she voiced her answer, terrified she might be wrong. “I learned two lessons, Sir.”
“Go on,” he said, sounding surprised.
Brie suddenly panicked. Was it okay to learn more than one thing per lesson? Of course , she chided herself. “Sir, it is important for me to think like your submissive at all times, even when you are not beside me.”
Sir remained silent for a moment and then stated, “I would have assumed you already knew that, after six weeks of training.”
She looked at him self-consciously. “Sir, I knew it in my head, but I hadn’t lived it until now.”
He nodded. “Very well. What else did you learn?”
“The only thing I care about is pleasing you, to be worthy of your domination.”
“Answer me this. If pleasing me was your motivation this morning, what went wrong?”
Brie thought back on it. Her mistake had been to assume he wanted what she would cook, but it was more than that. She had wanted to show off her meager cooking skills. Why? To prove that she was good enough for him.
“I wanted you to be proud of me.”
“And why was that a problem?”
She looked down at the leather cuff around her ankle as she thought about it. “Because…” She stalled, and then suddenly it came to her. “In the end it had to do with stroking my own ego, not pleasing you, Sir.”
“Exactly,” he replied, holding up a bite-sized piece of green apple. “Open.”
Brie parted her lips and took the apple in her mouth, appreciating its sweet tartness.
He spoke while she chewed. “I am confident in my choice of sub, despite the fact the decision was thrust upon me last night. To doubt yourself is to doubt my choice, and that I will not tolerate.”
Sir had gifted her with a clear understanding. Even though she had chosen Sir at the collaring ceremony, the truth was it had been his choice to accept her as his submissive. In fact, he’d turned her down initially. She shuddered, remembering it, but the pain of that rejection was like a long lost echo now.
The fact Sir cared enough to address her fear of inadequacy endeared him to her even more. Brie looked up at her Master, declaring with heartfelt conviction and a smidge of humor, “Sir, I will not doubt your fabulous choice of sub.”
His eyes softened as a smirk played at the corner of his lips. “I believe you are in need of another lesson.” Sir fed her another piece of apple and then took one for himself. “But this lesson is best done on an empty stomach.” He got up
