about her own desires, that she’d never dreamed of before.
Was moving in with Tanner the right thing to do? It was a bit late to consider that now. But he’d become even more masterful at dishing out pain and pleasure, now that he knew she was more fully his. She lived with him, and her life was his.
She’d asked Cheryl to meet her for lunch. So much had happened, and she just needed her friend to talk to. Cheryl understood Natalie’s reason for moving out. They’d become good friends, and Natalie valued the friendship.
Natalie dressed down for lunch, wearing black jeans, boots, and a soft leather jacket. She pulled her hair back into a ponytail. Her choice of dress made her feel connected with her real self.
She was still trying to adjust to Tanner’s wealthy lifestyle. It felt nice to be casual and have lunch at an obscure restaurant with a friend. She felt more relaxed than she had in a while.
“You look lovely,” Natalie told Cheryl, who’d arrived in a wool pantsuit, and black leather boots. She was always a class act.
“It’s love,” Cheryl beamed. “That makes any woman beautiful.”
“Who is he?” Natalie asked. “Tell me everything.”
“I think it’s really going to work,” Cheryl said. “Dani is such a good man. I met him at a party, after that last modeling job. His full name is Ivan Danilo Karpin, but he likes to be called Dani. He’s very wealthy, a Russian billionaire, actually. But, I didn’t even know that for several days.
He’s not one to brag. He’s so down to earth, loyal and attentive. His wife died many years ago and he never remarried. We have hardly been apart since we met. We talk for hours. If ever there was a soulmate for me, he’s it.”
“This sounds serious,” Natalie beamed at her.
Cheryl winked. “And he’s so romantic. The full package, he’s got it all. I just got lucky.”
Natalie was so pleased at that news. Cheryl deserved love in her life. She was so warm and beautiful. Dani seemed just perfect, the way she described him.
“What about you?” Cheryl asked, sipping the white wine she’d ordered.
“Ah, me,” Natalie sighed. She wished it could be so simple for her. “Well, I’m not sure moving in with Tanner was the right thing. I’ve given up the last shreds of my independence.
The thing is, he’s even more intensely sexual and possessive, now that we live together. Yet, whether good or bad, I just have to be with him, Cheryl. He is what I want. It’s too late. I can’t imagine being with anyone else.
He’s good to me. It’s just that…”
“Just that…what?” Cheryl prompted.
“The sex, it’s the sex. I’m swept up in it. He’s so much more experienced than I am. Can I tell you something, just between you and me?” Natalie asked for that reassurance, even though she didn’t talk to anyone, but Cheryl. She still had the agreement with Tanner to keep their sex life private, allowed to talk to Cheryl, only.
“Sure, honey,” Cheryl confirmed. “I’ve seen it all…if there’s anyone you can tell, it’s me.”
Natalie took a breath and began, “I’m not sure he loves me. Sometimes, I think he does, but he has never said so. He wants the physical side of our relationship as much as I do. He wants to take care of me and possess me, but that’s not the same.
I’m obsessed with him. I’m not sure I could leave if I wanted to. And, that’s the thing. What if he left me? What if,
