will talk later after the kids are in bed.” Now he wants to talk?
“Now let’s have supper. I’m staved.” So we sat back down.
Justin was all over his father, begging for attention. Bryan talked about his day and how he was going to move the church in a new direction. Our marriage needed to be moved in a new direction. Maybe we would talk tonight and I could get this off my chest and maybe something more.
Dinner was finally over and Rosa cleared the dinner dishes.
“Kay-Kay, I’m going to make a few calls and I’ll be right up.” Kay-Kay was my middle name and his pet name for me. He hadn’t called me that since college. Who was this man in my house tonight?
I got the kids bathed and ready for bed. Bryan walked in as I was getting Justin tucked in. “Did you say your prayers, Justin?”
    “Yes, Daddy, I did.”
“Give me a hug. You have school tomorrow. I’m going in to say goodnight to your sister so I’ll see in the morning. Good night. Don’t let the bed bugs bite.”
    “Night, Daddy. I love you.”
We made a stop in Sydney’s room, she was already sleeping. “I don’t want to wake her. She must be tired from the park today.”
“Come on, Baby. Let’s have our chat.” We walked down the hall to our bedroom. Bryan held my hand, “I have so much to say to you, but first let me get out of this suit.”
“I’ll take a shower while you relax.” I pulled my hair up and put a clip in it. I was so tired of this long hair. Bryan never wanted me to cut it. The bible says a woman’s hair is her glory, he would say. It actually says a woman’s hair is her glory, but not her long hair. But I wanted to keep the peace and not argue about the bible.
I turned on the shower and got in. So many things were running through my mind. I had wanted to spend more time with my sisters but Bryan had to get back for some meeting at the church. I missed them so much and I hadn’t seen Candice in years. I lived in the same town as Sabrina and we didn’t see much of each other either. I wanted that to change but didn’t know where to start.
Bryan opened the shower door, naked as the day he was born, “Can I join you?”
“Sure.” He took the bath sponge and started to clean me. It felt so warm and soothing. The water felt warm and Bryan’s hands felt even better.
“Sandra, I love you so darned much and I don’t want to lose you.” My tears started flowing uncontrollably. “Don’t cry, Baby. I know I’ve been neglecting you and I’m sorry. I promise to make it up to you.”
How could he make it up to me? We had spent so much time apart, I felt so alone. How was this marriage ever going to work? He turned me around to his rock hard chest and I laid my head against him. He began kissing my tears away. He kissed me until the tears were no more. “Kay-Kay, will you let me make love to you? I want to make love to my wife in the worst way.”
As he turned off the shower and dried my body he took my hair down so it would fall along my shoulders. “I love your long hair. It’s so sexy.” He kept kissing me. “You’re so beautiful and sexy.”
I just stood there looking up into his eyes. He’d always towered over me. He was about six-foot three to my five foot six. His body was incredible, the color of a chocolate candy bar and just as sweet. His eyes were a light brown, almost green. When he looked at me it always seemed he could see my soul.
And above all, I realized that I loved him with all my heart and soul. We walked out of the bathroom and to our bed, his body still glistening from the shower. He used the remote lying on the bed to turn on the music. Luther Vandross’ ‘ If This World Were Mine ’ played through the speakers. How I loved that song. We used to listen to it when we’d park by the river and make out in his red, drop top Corvette his dad had bought him for graduation.
“Bryan, I want you to make love to me.” I wanted him so much.
“Kay-Kay, I’m going to show you
