her clothes, smooth her hair back, and cross her legs again. Unable to avoid it any longer, she brought her eyes up to meet his. When she did so, her nails dug into her palms to stop herself from smacking the arrogant smirk off his lips.
She watched as he pulled his boxers and pants on, carefully tucking his erection inside. She raised her chin and dared him to comment.
Darrell grinned at her expression. “So am I hired?”
Chapter 4
“Who’s the new kid you interviewed today?”
Roni quickly looked at Bryan and willed her breathing to remain steady as she thought about what happened earlier today. Bryan was her cousin and owned part of Club Ecstasy along with her.
“His name is Darrell Monroe.”
“He any good?”
Roni bit down on her lip. Oh, he was good alright. Too good. Giving her head a little shake to push the images away, she casually answered Bryan’s question.
“Yes. He doesn’t have any experience, but he has a lot of potential and the drive to succeed. With a little polishing to tighten up his showmanship, he could be one of our top acts.” Roni kept her voice as professional as she could but she and Bryan had known each other all their lives. There wasn’t much she could hide from him.
“I assume you and your friends broke him in during the interviewing process….” he teased. Bryan left the hiring of the dancers up to Roni, and so far, she’d been on point. “If they didn’t scare the poor guy away, I guess he’s a winner.”
Roni laughed and felt some of the tension ease out of her body. Once in a while, she brought her friends in to check out someone she was thinking about hiring just to see how other women reacted to them. There were times when they could be extremely brutal and leave the poor guy feeling embarrassingly self-conscious about his God given ‘gift’.
However, that hadn’t been the case with Darrell. She’d never seen them react that way with anyone else. For that matter, neither had she.
Stop it Roni. You’re acting worse than the women in the audience.
She suddenly became aware of the fact that Bryan was watching her with a curious expression.
“What…?” she asked.
“That’s what I’m trying to figure out. What’s this guy’s name again?”
“Darrell.”
Bryan nodded as he continued to closely study Roni. She avoided his eyes and looked over at the security screen. All she needed right now was for Bryan to start questioning her and giving her the third degree. He had that gleam in his eyes that reminded her of a shark that smelled blood and was biding its time before moving in for the kill.
Roni saw no need to expand on her answer because she intended to forget this afternoon ever happened. It was bad enough her friends witnessed what that man had been able to do to her. They had been asking her non-stop when she planned to fuck him.
That wasn’t going to happen. She prided herself on maintaining a strictly professional relationship with all of her employees - especially the dancers. She couldn’t let one lapse in judgment undermine her reputation and what she’d worked so hard to accomplish.
Besides, she wasn’t going to be a notch in anyone’s belt, least of all a twenty year old kid’s. She’d met many men like Darrell, men who possessed unbelievably good looks, charm, and sex appeal, but despite advances from many of them, the line in the sand had been firmly drawn and she had never ever crossed it - until now. She sighed and closed her eyes. Massaging her temple, she felt the beginnings of a headache coming on from just the thought of what she’d let him do.
“Alright, what’s going on? Spill it.” Bryant sat back in the chair and crossed his arms as he waited.
“Bryan, please, I’m tired and not in the mood to be interrogated,” she
