dressage whip. Which makes sense, it’s designed for disciplining people whereas the other devices are made for animals with a thicker skin.”
He laughed at his own joke, putting the paddle away.
“I have one more nice item today for you, Anna.”
This last tool carried an air of greater menace and Anna’s eyes were glued to it. A long, thin stick with a red handle. Caden slashed it through the air. It, too, whistled, but with a more substantial whoosh than the others. He cracked it against the couch. Anna jumped, shrieking and yanking the nylon straps. The crease it made in the solid cowhide of the couch took several long seconds to fill back in.
“This is a rattan cane. It’s a more dangerous instrument. One would never use it on a prized horse, for example. It has to be used on a girl with care, because it will raise deep welts. The cane can cause bleeding and leave permanent marks.”
“Oh, God, no, Mr. Morning, please don’t hit me with your cane.” Anna looked at him with huge and tearful eyes. “I’ll be good and do anything you say.”
Caden grinned, showing her his teeth. “We’ll reserve this for the end, and the strokes you get from it will be based in number on how obedient you are. Also, I know places I can hit you where a scar won’t show. I’ll give you the choice when the time comes.”
Anna stared at the evil stick.
    Maybe I should quit now.
“What’s it to be, Anna? Quit or take it?”
“You won’t use the cane if I’m obedient?”
Caden frowned. Anna recoiled in terror. She shouldn’t say things that made him frown.
“You’ll get at least two strokes for asking. You need to learn to be submissive to authority, and it’s not submissive to ask about the details of your punishment. However, if you are obedient, I will not punish you as severely.”
Anna bit her lip and nodded.
“I can’t hear you, Anna. I need you to speak the words.”
“I won’t quit, sir.” She took a deep breath. “Please punish me.”
    “Good girl.”

“I’m going to leave your hands free, but I want you to keep them still, can you obey me in this?”
    “I think so?”
Caden grimaced. “I’ve told you about the up-talk, Anna. It makes you sound foolish. Only end a sentence with a rising tone if it’s really a question.”
Anna’s anger flared. This man and his cutting comments, his words were worse than his spanks. He should just fire me if he can’t stand how I talk. Shouldn’t he?
“If you move your hands, I will punish you with the cane. Do you want me to bind them?”
Now she raged. She’d told him she would not move her hands! “I’ve done everything you told me to. I said I won’t move them.”
“Fine. Hold them next to your head, with the palms facing up.”
Anna complied, even more helpless. She lifted her hands into a position of total surrender.
Caden ran his eyes up and down her splayed out body. He licked his lips. “You’re lovely lying there all ready to submit to your discipline.”
He took a picture. His Smartphone made the fake shutter noise that, for some reason, phone programmers think needs to be made when someone takes a digital photo. She almost jumped up then, but remembered her ankles were tied and the cane.
“What will you do with that picture?”
“Nothing that concerns you, Anna. There’s an internal site where managers share our techniques. It’s all part of our ongoing effort to improve the efficiency and obedience of our staff.”
Her mouth dropped open. “You can’t mean to post pictures of me? You can’t have the right.”
“Section fourteen, line eleven of the employee handbook you swore you read when you signed your contract says I can share any and all records of sessions deemed necessary for your discipline if I deem it will contribute to an improvement in business processes. Helping other managers learn to effectively control their staff is one of those processes we are seeking to improve.”
    She shook her
