his praises as I pulled on Death’s jeans and vest. I buckled her helmet, and grabbed for the bandana, swinging it across my face. Death would ride tonight. Upstairs, I kicked open the door to the armory, pulling down everything I thought might be useful. Two big handguns, plenty of ammunition, and a long deadly looking assault rifle.
Jacob said they’d be at the docks. It stood to reason they would be at the closest ones, off point lookout. I kicked the starter on the bike, the hog roaring to life beneath me. Vibrations tickled my body from every square inch of the steel and chrome machine. Without hesitation, I pulled the clutch and kicked the bike into gear, roaring out the open entrance.
Two men in a car were waiting, probably left behind to catch anyone who came back to the clubhouse. They seemed surprised at a bike coming from inside, and they were certainly surprised as I leveled the handgun as the men were trying to draw their own, a pair of blasts blast ripping into one man’s chest, and then the other.
I didn’t wait to see if they were alive.
The bike screamed through the night. My fears that I was too late were confirmed as I rolled up to the industrial neighborhood. Low riders lined the street, empty. Leaping off the bike I sprinted as fast as I could, my broken rib screaming in my side. I’m no hero… I just had to save him.
    I had to save Jacob.
The sounds of gunfire erupted from the dock, and I did the only thing I could. I drew my twin handguns and took the first step.
My scream was guttural as I came round the shipping containers, the entire Vamos crew firing down from their lofty position at the dock below. I was unloading round after round, men spinning round in shock, acting as if they’d seen a ghost. From below, the horsemen attacked, storming up the gangway. Pain ripped through my leg, topping me as I emptied one handgun, then the other. My face dropping to the asphalt, I cried, listening to the screams. Somewhere far away, I could hear Jacob’s voice.

    Epilogue
My eyes fluttered, the light streaming through skin. I felt funny, my body floating on a cloud.
Am I dead? Is this heaven?
    “You’re one crazy bitch.”
My eyes snapped open at the sound of the voice. Death stood at the bedside, her beautiful face bruised and broken. I wanted to cry for her, my fingers reaching out, gasping as I saw the tubes running into my arm.
    “What… What happened.”
“War says you came shooting up the Vamos like a fucking kamikaze. All hell broke loose. They had me tied up in a trunk round the block. You saved my life you silly little girl.”
    “You saved all of us…”
The voice belonged to War himself. He stood from the chair where he was sitting vigil. A smile softened his broad jaw. Jenna hung on his arm, a look of awe in her eyes.
    “Jacob…” I whispered.
“He got it worse than you, but he’s alive.”
I gasped, leaning up to see everyone laughing. Jacob was standing across the room, a hospital gown round his front, an IV bag on a hook, and a huge white gauze pad on his ass.
“They shot him right in his best feature…” Death said, laughing. “Doc says the bullet practically bounced right off him. Always knew you were a hard-ass Conquest.”
“Enough fun. I need some time with my woman.” Conquest said sternly, pointing toward the door. One by one, the assembled horsemen stepped out, even famine stopping to lay his hand softly on mine as he passed by. Finally, we were alone…
“I thought I lost you baby girl,” Jacob whispered. “You’re a goddamned can of lit gasoline.”
“You don’t know the half of it,” I whispered back, coughing lightly and wincing at the hint of pain in my side. Clearly they had me on some sort of painkiller, but it might be time to up the dose.
“The Koreans? Did you… The elephant…” I said, words spilling out in a slow fashion.
“We intercepted it baby. Homeland Security says it was a bunch of guns. Never seen guns come
